imageGeriatric massage therapy is designed to address the specific needs of the elderly and ill, using light oils or lotions to permit muscles to be worked on without causing excessive friction to the skin. It involves stroking, kneading, and the application of pressure on specific points to manipulate the soft tissues of the body. Therapeutic stretches apply just enough pressure on the joints, soft tissue, and muscles to make the massage safe for an older individual while still retaining its efficacy. Some clients prefer deep-tissue or myofascial release.
